Some kids may balk at the idea of playing a game that’s not on an electronic device. However, a few companies, such as Winning Moves, still make creative and fun games which the whole family can enjoy playing together.
My six-year-old daughter was immediately drawn to the new Winning Moves games called Brynk and Pass the Pig Big Pigs. My 12-year-old lost interest when she learned they weren’t video games. After she saw them, though, she seemed to change her tune, and will probably be playing with them along with her sister soon.

Brynk is a colorful, artsy game that two or more people can play or kids can play on their own. A white circle balances on top of a coffee-can sized container. Keep adding plastic pieces to build as high of a tower as you can until it collapses.
My younger child enjoys building Brynk structures on her own and even playing with the plastic pieces outside of the actual game mechanism. When you’re done playing with Brynk, simply gather up all the pieces, turn over the cannister and store everything inside it. Brynk is available for $17.62 from Amazon.com.
We also tested Pass the Pigs Big Pigs, a larger version of Winning Moves’ popular Pass the Pigs game. You roll the pigs like dice and score based on how they land.
The specially weighted foam pigs can land in a variety of different positions, which you score based on a full-color quick reference card. The game comes complete with a tablet of score sheets and a small pencil, plus a black cloth bag for keeping the pigs safe when they’re not being tossed around.
Here again, my child just likes playing with the pigs on her own, though we enjoyed fun games together, too. The pigs are so cute and cuddly that she wanted to sleep with one. Pass the Pigs Big Pigs costs about $19 from Amazon.com.
Winning Moves has a number of fun games you could use to start scheduling family game nights. I received demo products for the purposes of this honest review. All opinions are my own.
