Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, but you don’t have to pay a bundle to get just the right valentines for your child to take to school, daycare or preschool. You can find valentines on the cheap at dollar stores (for only $1 a box) or find free printable valentines online.
I recommend trying Dollar Tree first, since they often have all sorts of popular licensed character valentines, including My Little Pony, Ninja Turtles, Disney Princess, super heroes like Batman and Spiderman and much more. You’ll want to get there as soon as possible, because they sell out of the most popular characters well before Valentine’s Day.

If you decide to print valentines, you’ll probably want to buy 8 1/2″ by 11″ white cardstock, and make sure you have a color printer that’ll print on cardstock, such as the HP Color LaserJet Pro M252dw Printer
. In addition, you’ll need some sharp scissors for cutting apart the valentine cards. For many printable valentines, your computer needs to have a free PDF viewer installed, such as Adobe Reader, which comes pre-installed on most new computers.
