I recently took my daughters to the 11th birthday party of my older daughter’s good friend Landen. Like my daughter and many other kids, Landen is a huge Minecraft fan, so his mom Shar put together a spectacular Minecraft party for him. She was kind enough to share with me her Minecraft party ideas, including photos, tips and recipes that she used.
One of the biggest hits of Landen’s Minecraft Birthday party was the lava punch, made with a carton of Breyer’s orange and vanilla cremesicle ice cream with a two-liter bottle of strawberry soda. All of the punch disappeared after the kids kept asking for more and more of it. Shar got the idea for it from Southern Revivals, which offers a wonderful blog post with numerous ideas and photos from a child’s Minecraft birthday party.
Instead of a cake, Shar made chocolate brownies in a Wilton brownie pan and decorated it as a Minecraft creeper using green and black icing.
For take-home Minecraft goodie bags, Shar decorated paper lunch bags with Minecraft designs and filled them with creative Minecraft treats, such as a juice box made to look like an Enderman, a stick of TNT made from Twizzlers, a green creeper bracelet (which sprang from Shar’s own creative mind), a creeper bookmark, a small pack of crayons and Minecraft coloring sheets from this site.
Some of the free Minecraft printables came from CatchMyParty, where you can find Minecraft birthday party invitations, decorations, food cards and more. The Party Animal has a free printable Minecraft birthday party banner spelling out “Happy Birthday.” Shar got some other Minecraft birthday party ideas from Rockin My Life.
One of the birthday party highlights didn’t have anything to do with Minecraft, but was something the kids had a ball doing – Just Dance on the Nintendo Wii. My 5-year-old loved it and even sometimes earned higher scores than the much older kids. Later, at home, we broke out the Dance Central
game that came with our XBox 360 with Kinect game console, and I purchased Just Dance 2015
along with an extra song to go with it, “Gangnam Style” by Psy.
A big thank you to Landen for sharing his special birthday and Minecraft party with us, and to Shar for sharing her amazing Minecraft party ideas and photos!
