I know it’s a cliché, but wow, I can’t believe another year has passed! That means it’s time for another edition of LivingWithBeth’s most popular posts of the year.
The 2018 list includes favorites from past years as well as some newcomers and some surprises, at least from my perspective. What are your favorite LWB posts? As always, thanks for reading!

Year after year, my post about fixing a cordless Dyson vacuum that keeps turning on and off continues to draws hundreds of thousands of viewers.
Amazon Alexa Tips
During the Christmas season, views spiked for my post outlining 13 Insanely Clever Things to do with Amazon Alexa. Many people must have found Alexa-enabled devices under the Christmas tree in 2018!
Fix Roku WiFi Problems
My family cut the cord on pay TV a while ago, and we use Roku TV streaming devices on all of our household televisions. Many (if not most) of my posts about how to fix a particular problem come from my own experiences, including my wildly popular post called How to Fix Your Roku WiFi Problems in a Flash.
Change a Honda Key Fob Battery
This newcomer to LWB’s most popular list is yet another post resulting from my own experiences – changing the battery in my Honda CR-V’s key fob. Instead of making a trip to the Honda dealership and paying them to change the fob battery, you can order a pack of batteries from Amazon for about $5 and do it yourself in about 15 minutes.
Crustless Low Carb Pumpkin Pie
My low carb pumpkin pie recipe has remained popular year-round ever since I first posted it, though numbers spike around Thanksgiving and Christmas. My kids love this pumpkin pie so much that I had to make it multiple times during Thanksgiving break to keep up with demand.
Android Phone and Tablet Tips
I continue to update my post with several Android phone and tablet tips periodically, and it keeps drawing large numbers of readers.
Favorite Outlander Quotes
Sometime in the past couple of years, I read the Outlander series of books, then began watching the TV show on STARZ. I was totally hooked! The Outlander books contain numerous wonderful quotes, many of which don’t make it to the TV show. My Outlander quotes post has drawn thousands of readers, and I hope to have introduced some new fans to Diana Gabaldon’s wonderful series!
Find Your Ellis Island Ancestors
Don’t you love free genealogy research sites? If your immigrant ancestors arrived in the U.S. in the late 19th or early 20th century, they might have come through Ellis Island. The Ellis Island website offers a genealogy treasure trove where you might find a copy of the ship’s manifest documenting your ancestors’ arrival in America.
Disturbing Genealogy
Anytime I start to feel sorry for myself and feel like life is so hard, I think about how hard life was for most of my ancestors. Without birth control, women often had 6, 8, 10 or more children. Without childhood vaccines, antibiotics, clean water, and other modern inventions, many of them wouldn’t live to adulthood. Even adults died of diseases that rarely kill people today, such as appendicitis and tuberculosis. When you research your family history, be prepared to find sad and tragic events in your relatives’ lives.
Free Genealogy Research on State Archive Sites
While they vary widely in how useful they are for genealogy researchers, state archives websites are free for anyone to access and definitely worth exploring.
