LEGOs are some of the best toys on Earth. While I’ve reviewed some wonderful, creative LEGO sets, kids love building freestyle with LEGO blocks, too. I recently found a site with some fantastic instructions and illustrations for building various fun projects with LEGOs, including LEGO Minions.

My LEGO Minions aren’t nearly as great as the ones in the instructions, but we also don’t have all the requisite parts. I guess we don’t have a great selection of different shapes of blocks, but we did the best we could with what we have. The Minion in blue clothes is supposed to be Stuart (according to my 5-year-old daughter). The other one started off as Stuart’s mom until my 11-year-old daughter said it looks like Lady Gaga.
So, now, our LEGO Minions are Stuart and Lady Gaga. I was pretty proud of myself even though they look pretty lame compared to the pictures I worked from. My partner in LEGO building is absolutely thrilled with her LEGO Minions. She keeps changing Lady Gaga into different colored “clothes” and “shoes.” At first I was afraid she’d ruin my creations, but she always puts them back the way they were.
Then, I realized that I was becoming attached to some movie characters made out of LEGOs. I guess it’s one of those parenting things.
What kinds of cool things have you and your kids constructed out of LEGO bricks (not including LEGO sets)? Do you have huge vats of LEGO pieces and parts or just a few hundred, mostly plain vanilla LEGO blocks like we do?
