I recently saw a post on a very popular blog that urged readers not to cancel their pay TV service and cut the cord. Huh? We finally canceled our satellite service a few months ago after years of stalling.
I could count on zero hands the number of times I’ve missed our satellite service. I’m kicking myself for the amount of time we wasted $100+ monthly on satellite service. That $100+ was for three TVs with whole home DVR and no premium channels.
Now, we use Roku devices to watch Netflix and Amazon Prime (get your free Amazon Prime trial here) and an antenna for local channels.

Amazon keeps giving people more reasons to cut the cord. Awhile back, they began selling standalone STARZ and Showtime
subscriptions.
Now, you can subscribe to HBO through Amazon, too! Join their HBO Free Trial and start watching hit movies, plus popular TV series like Divorce, Westworld and Game of Thrones.
If you keep the subscription, it’ll cost $14.99 after the free month. In addition, Cinemax is available for $9.99 per month. On Cinemax, you can enjoy shows such as The Knick, Quarry, Outcast, Banshee and Strike Back, as well as a selection of popular movies.
You must be a member of Amazon Prime to subscribe to HBO through Amazon. The subscription includes all of HBO’s newest and most popular shows and news-focused programming such as Bill Maher, plus blockbuster movies like The Revenant, Deadpool, The Martian, Ride Along 2, Straight Outa Compton, Sisters and Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. You’ll also find limited series like The Night Of and comedy specials from Billy Crystal, Ricky Gervais and Louis C.K., among others.
Why subscribe to HBO through Amazon? You get trusted, reliable streaming through Amazon Video plus easy self-service cancellation of any subscription at any time.
There’s just one user ID and password to remember – your Amazon login credentials – and one channel to find, accessible across hundreds of compatible devices. You create your own lineup of premium channels, all with free trials available, with no cable or satellite subscription required.
