Boost Mobile continues to offer rock bottom prices on their plans – as low as $30 a month for 2 GB of data plus unlimited talk and texts. Plus, they offer an array of nice phones that won’t break the budget.
One of their latest is the Samsung Galaxy J7, which offers many of the high-end features of Samsung’s more expensive phones while costing less than $200.
Zippy Performance and Expandable Storage
The J7 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and supports 3G/4G/Enhanced LTE on its 1.4 GHz octa-core processor with 2 GB of RAM. It includes 16 GB of onboard memory, and you can add up to a 128 GB microSD card if you’d like.
You may have noticed that some phone brands have started phasing out the ability to add microSD storage. Apple iPhones and iPads have never offered this important feature. If you can’t add a microSD card, you’re stuck with whatever amount of storage comes with the phone.

Large, Vibrant Screen
The Galaxy J7 weighs just under 6 ounces and measures 6″ by 3″ by .3″. It’s a little larger than the Galaxy S4 I’m used to carrying in my pocket. For that extra size, you get a larger screen.
Videos look spectacular on the Galaxy J7’s 5.5″ HD Super AMOLED display with clear, vibrant colors. Text in emails and online articles looks crisp and easy on the eyes.
Games like Words With Friends and Angry Birds look phenomenal and sound fantastic. You’ll love playing Pokémon Go on the Galaxy J7, too. Gameplay is smooth, and the GPS signal is reliable – a must-have for Pokémon Go.
Fully Featured Android Phone
The J7’s keyboard offers nicely sized, multi-function keys and comfortable typing. You can also use Android’s handy voice commands and voice typing if you prefer.
The 13 MP rear facing camera takes great photos, and both the front (5 MP) and rear cameras offer flash capability plus numerous other features. You’ll take gorgeous HD videos with the J7, too.
The Galaxy J7 feels slender and comfortable in my hand, and its touchscreen provides just the right amount of sensitivity. Battery life is excellent on the J7, lasting several days with minimal usage.
Keep in mind that social media usage and constant updates are huge drains on any phone’s battery. Certain other apps can also suck battery life in the background, regardless of the phone.
My mom had a flashlight app that was sucking her battery dry all the time, even though she hardly ever used the app. It was apparently running all the time in the background.
No Contract, No Commitment, No Credit Check
There’s no commitment with Boost Mobile phones. Simply buy one of their phones, some of which you can pick up for less than $100, and select one of their super cheap monthly plans.
Boost Mobile uses Sprint’s nationwide 4G LTE mobile network. On Boost Mobile’s plans, you don’t incur overage charges if you go over your monthly allotment. Once you hit your limit, your data speeds are slowed down for the remainder of the billing period.
This setup is perfect for kids and teens. My 12-year-old daughter has a Boost Mobile phone that costs $30 a month. If she goes over her data limit, she has to deal with the consequences (slow data for a few days). Sprint’s 4G LTE mobile network coverage seems to be there anytime I need it.
If you share data on a family plan with a non-prepaid carrier, putting a tween or teen onboard is a recipe for draining everyone’s data in a hurry and/or running up overage charges.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 from Boost Mobile costs around $200 plus as low as $30 a month with autopay for unlimited talk and text plus 2 GB of full-speed data, which grows by .5 GB for every 3 on-time payments, up to 5 GB.
